Finally, the program of the ALP in this quarter finished. Compare to another class, our class was hard. Of course, all of the ALP teachers are tough. When I finished the ALP program in last quarter, I couldn’t be satisfied with myself because I studied English without the confidence. After that time, I decided to get the confidence and met Chris in this quarter. Personally, I prefer Chris’s teaching style such as his lecture and humor. Especially, I think his humor is really good for me because boring lectures are sleeping drugs. Even though, sometimes, I couldn’t understand his lecture or explaining, I never felt sleepy. Of course, I may have yawn but yawning is not always a sign of sleepiness. Anyway, I could study English conveniently and delightfully. Thank you for Chris’s teaching and classmates.

Disaster

When I was working in army, I experienced the earthquake. I could feel tremulous by the way I was sleeping. With the sound like the window broken, all people in army got up. Fortunately, nobody had slept beneath the window and had stood near the window.
As I heard the experience of Edgar, I was surprised because in Korea, earthquakes don’t occur frequently. So the experience of mine is not common. In addition, the earthquake that Edgar experienced was strong compare to my experience.
Unfortunately, we can’t defense against many disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc because man’s ability is not enough to subjugate disasters. Even if we can leave everything to chance about disasters, I believe we can get over disasters with technologies that are developing.

Pandora: Music Discovery Service

If you're interested in exploring some new music, Pandora is a website that you may find interesting.

Pandora is a "music discovery service" that creates a personal radio station for you based on your input. To start, type in the name of an artist or song that you like. Pandora will then play songs that are similar to the one you suggested. You can rate each song that Pandora plays (thumbs-up for good, thumbs-down for bad) and your station will adapt to your interests.

This is a great way to find new music. And, yes, Pandora displays the name of the song and the artist so you can search for the lyrics or buy the song if you like it. Try it out and use the "Comments" to share your opinion.

Homework for Tuesday, August 1

Everyone who posted an audioblog message did a very nice job. (If you haven't posted your audioblog yet, it's better late than never!)

Your homework for tomorrow, in addition to completing the Course Packet preview assignment and submitting the final draft of your essay, you should do the following:

1. Listen to your audioblog and type a comment describing the positive and negative points about your audioblog. What did you do well? What do you need to improve. You should write about a paragraph (maximum of 5-6 sentences.)

2. Comment on another student's audioblog. (You can comment on more than one, if you like.) No need to point out positives and negatives, just react to what they said. Aim for about 1-2 sentences.
