Journal Topic #3: Something new in English
This weekend, do something new in English that you have never done before. For example, listen to a radio station you have never listened to; read a book, newspaper, or magazine you have never read; go somewhere and speak to someone you have never spoken to; etc.
What have you learned from this activity? How much English did you understand? Would you do this activity again?

I have always set up some situation and tried to speak English considering the situation with some Americans since I arrived here. Because I think it is good for me. Last weekend, I was expecting my package that was mailed. But the problem was that my package was misdelivered. So I didn't set up some situation because it was opportunity for speaking English too. I thought that this situation was the same with others and I called DHL in us. But I overlooked that it was difficult to hear something by the cellphone. I didn't understand speaking of DHL manager and he didn't understand my speaking too. So I decided that I was used to talk to ALP teachers. Even if I can’t speak English very well, they can understand my speaking easily because they are professional. I would like to take this opportunity to learn that I should try to talk to many Americans.
In the last weekend, I’ve been to the cinema whith my friends from my country and some aliens . When my friends decided to to watch a movie I was really not confident in my ability to understand what is the movie talking about and how can I catch whith their accent in the conversatoins or the dialog because I was used to watch translated films. But finally, I’ve to decide to join them because I’ve always believed in myself.
I really enjoyed the movie and I was trying to hunt some words pronunciations and some expressions that American people often use. It was really exiting beginning to start trying to watch American movie and I’ve purchased a cable network because I really want to improve my listening.
